Terms of Service
Last updated: October 9, 2026
By accessing or using Vittil (vittil.io and app.vittil.io, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These terms have not been reviewed by legal counsel and may be updated at any time. We encourage you to review them periodically.
Service Description
Vittil collects crash reports from ESP32 devices that run firmware containing the Vittil component, decodes each report against the firmware's build file (the ELF) that you upload, groups the decoded crashes into issues, and shows them to your project's users at app.vittil.io.
A device sends two things: a short ping while it runs, and, after a crash, the crash report it kept on its flash, sent on the next boot. Nothing is sent from a device that does not run firmware you built with the component and your project key.
Important: Decoding Disclaimer
A decoded crash is the Service's reading of the device's crash report against the ELF you uploaded. It is a diagnostic aid, not a certified finding.
The reading can be wrong or incomplete when the uploaded ELF does not match the firmware that crashed, when the report is partial or was damaged by the fault itself, or when the fault corrupted the device's memory before the report was written. The grouping of crashes into issues is a heuristic and may join or split crashes that a person would judge differently.
You should not rely solely on a decoded crash for a safety decision, a recall, a warranty claim, or a change to a device in the field without your own verification.
Vittil is not liable for any damages, losses, or costs arising from reliance on a decoded crash or on the grouping of crashes into issues.
Account Terms
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and of your project key.
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
- One account per person. Account sharing is not permitted.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and under your project key.
Your Devices and Their Data
You confirm that the devices sending reports to your project are yours, or that you are authorised by their owner to collect crash reports from them, and that the firmware running on them is yours to debug.
A crash report contains the device's memory at the moment of the fault. Whatever your firmware held in memory at that moment, for example a network password, a token, or a user's data, may be in the report. You are responsible for what your firmware holds in memory, for telling your own users what your devices send as the law that applies to you requires, and for not sending the Service anything you do not have the right to send.
You will not send reports from devices you do not control, and you will not send anything unlawful through the Service.
Subscription and Billing
- Vittil offers a free plan and two paid plans. Every plan covers an unlimited number of devices; the plans differ in how many crashes are decoded each month and how long data is kept.
- Free: $0, up to 50 decoded crashes a month, data kept for 7 days.
- Starter: $39 per month, up to 1,000 decoded crashes a month, data kept for 90 days.
- Pro: $99 per month, unlimited decoded crashes, multiple projects, data kept for one year.
- The free plan does not expire and needs no credit card. You may stay on it for as long as you like and upgrade when you choose.
- Flat price, no overage charges, ever. When a plan's monthly decoding limit is reached, decoding pauses until the next month or an upgrade; crash reports keep arriving and are stored, counted and grouped, and nothing is dropped. Upgrading decodes the stored backlog.
- Payments are processed securely by our payment processor. By subscribing to a paid plan, you also agree to the processor's terms, shown on its checkout page.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You may cancel at any time through the billing management page.
- No refunds are provided for partial months. Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of your current billing period.
- We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days' advance notice.

- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, other projects, or our systems.
- Send the Service reports that are not from your own devices, or forged reports meant to disrupt it.
- Use automated tools to access the Service beyond the component's own sending and the normal use of the dashboard.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
- Resell, redistribute, or repackage the Service as a competing service.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
Intellectual Property
The Vittil Service, including its design, software, decoding, and branding, is the property of Vittil. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works based on our Service.
Your firmware, your ELF files, and the crash reports your devices send remain yours. Vittil uses them only to operate the Service for your project: to decode the reports, group them, and show them to your project's users. The decoded crashes shown to you may be used freely for your own purposes.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vittil shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to Vittil in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every report a device sends will arrive, or that a decoded crash will be accurate or complete.
Termination
- You may cancel your subscription and stop using the Service at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.
- Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease. Your project's data, including the crash reports and ELF files, may be deleted after a reasonable period.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
